Mary Elizabeth Mullikin Van Horn to serve as Media-Relations Director for the SC State Guard

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mullikin Van Horn will serve as deputy assistant media-relations director for the S.C. State Guard. The SCSG is stepping-up its imaging efforts, and Mrs. Van Horn (daughter of Maj. Gen. Tom Mullikin) brings a wealth of experience to the table.
An associate attorney with the Camden, S.C.-based Mullikin Law Firm, Mrs. Van Horn has served in the White House as a member of the Presidential Advance Team, and she has worked in the S.C. Senate. During law school, she worked for a tax boutique law firm and for a large multi-state law firm performing research for corporate mergers and acquisitions. In addition to earning her juris doctor from the Charleston School of Law, she holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration (with a concentration in accounting) from the University of South Carolina.
Mrs. Van Horn is a black belt in American freestyle karate and an avid SCUBA diver.
As a “civilian” deputy assistant media-relations director, Mrs. Van Horn will serve on the staff of Mrs. Linda Champion Gamble (Mrs. Gamble is the State Guard’s deputy media-relations director). A key staff leader, Mrs. Van Horn will advise State Guard leaders, direct various projects, and help lead the media team in its imaging, branding and public-relations efforts, driving the broader State Guard message.
